The Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services, Inc. (SMRLS) provides free legal assistance to eligible low-income residents in 22 counties in the state, including help for issues related to disaster relief and recovery. This may include help with insurance claims, disaster relief applications, temporary housing, evictions, home repairs, emergency benefits, child custody and child support, and replacing ID cards and other important documents.
SMRLS serves the 33 (Blue Earth, Brown, Carver, Cottonwood, Dakota, Dodge, Faribault, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Jackson, Le Sueur, Martin, McLeod, Mower, Murray, Nicollet, Nobles, Olmsted, Pipestone, Ramsey, Redwood, Rice, Rock, Scott, Sibley, Steele, Wabasha, Waseca, Washington, Watonwan, Winona) counties of southern Minnesota, including the east and south metro, along with agricultural workers throughout North Dakota and Minnesota.
