Minnesota Attorney General

The Consumer Protection Division protects Minnesota consumers from fraud, identity theft and scams. They enforce consumer laws designed to protect the you from unfair or deceptive business practices. For example, you can contact the division if you have a fraud complaint about a contractor doing repairs on your home. Examples of fraud include if the contractor you paid never showed up to do the work, did not finish the work, or did a very poor job. The division also provides tips on how to avoid fraud when hiring a contractor for repairs. You also can report price gouging. This is when companies hike the prices of essential items after a natural disaster, such as food, water, medicines, home repair supplies, and gasoline.
