Iowa Community Action Association

The Iowa Community Action Association provides resources and support to the state’s Community Action Agencies (CAAs). CAA case managers work with households to develop a disaster recovery plan and obtain the services and resources the people in those homes need. The agencies also process applications for the Iowa Individual Disaster Assistance Grant Program. The program provides up to $5,000 to qualifying low-income households.

These services are provided only when the governor issues a disaster proclamation that activates the grant program and case management services for particular counties. There are 17 Community Action Agencies in the state, serving all 99 Iowa counties.
