The organization sends qualified volunteers to disaster sites to help treat injuries and illnesses, replace prescription medications and eyeglasses, and provide emotional support.

American Red Cross of Minnesota and the Dakotas chapters deliver supplies to residents through local distribution centers or through emergency response vehicles that travel to the affected areas. These supplies include meals, water, and snacks. For personal care, they provide items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, and shampoo. For home cleanup, they may provide tarps, rakes, shovels, and trash bags.
