Central Virginia Legal Aid Society provides free civil legal assistance to eligible low-income residents in central Virginia, including help for issues related to disaster relief and recovery. This may include help with insurance claims, disaster relief applications, temporary housing, evictions, home repairs, emergency benefits, child custody and child support, and replacing ID cards and other important documents. Counties served include Albemarle, Charles City, Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Fluvanna, Goochland, Greene, Hanover, Henrico, Louisa, Nelson, New Kent, Powhatan, Prince George, Surry, and the cities of Charlottesville, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Petersburg, and Richmond.
